Environmental aspects
Limelco produces a wide range of dairy products for the international market and intends to pursue its position as a leading company in the sector. Its activities do not only have a socio-economic influence, they also have environmental consequences.
Limelco therefore considers it a duty to manufacture its products in such a way as to reduce their impact on the living environment as much as is possible within the framework of its healthy economic development and the quality policy implemented.
In order to achieve this aim, Limelco will:
- Make any efforts needed to adhere to environmental legislation, regulations and other requirements.
- Pursue a preventive approach to environmental cost by cooperating with its operators in applying an approach which takes into account both source and process.
- In the spirit of the Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control Directive (IPPC) (96/61/EEC), continually test its operational management and its investments against the concept of Best Available Techniques (BAT).
The spearheads of the environmental policy applied are:
- Reduction of water consumption and improvement of the associated discharge of waste water.
- Control and reduction of aspects of local environmental pollution: noise, smell and dust.
- Improvement of energy consumption.
- Improvement of the separated collection and processing of waste products.
- Preventive approach of the major safety aspects of all installations.
Limelco seeks the continuous improvement of its environmental record, which will be recorded in its annually revised environmental objectives. These objectives are drawn up taking into account the opinions of our employees, our neighbours and the authorities.
